Lower Extremity Pain
Pain in the legs, feet, or toes can be disabling as it can lead to problems or inability to perform activities of daily living. Simple functions such as walking can be severely reduced. Pain with numbness and/or weakness may necessitate surgical consultation depending on the severity and acuteness. This pain can be the result of injury, inflammation, poor or reduced blood circulation, diabetes, or spinal cord injury. Neuropathic conditions of the lower extremity with dysfunction of the sympathetic nervous system will be covered under complex regional pain section.
