The most common form of arthritis is osteoarthritis, which is also known as degenerative joint disease, commonly occuring after trauma to the joint, but may simply be the result of aging. Arthritis may be primary or secondary, and etiologies may be derived from an infection, inflammation, autoimmune (the body is attacking itself), or cancer.
